Chandeliers & Pendant Lights – Both Serve Different Functions

Pendants lights and chandeliers are hanging light fixtures with differences in the structure. Mostly used in the same kind of spaces like kitchens, dining rooms, and foyers, the two are structurally contrasting. You can choose one of them or both depending on how your house is constructed and its other decor.

While chandeliers are used as a standalone center piece, pendant lights are placed in groups or independently placed in different spaces in the room. Pendant lights do not have the tiers like the luxury chandeliers. Chandeliers lights branch off from a main source.

When it comes to the price, Chandeliers are more expensive than the pendant lights. But which one to choose does not depend on any other factor, other than the need of the product. Price and taste come next. Understand the room firstly and then decide on the lights.

If you have tall ceilings then a chandelier is the best option. An elegant look can be achieved by erecting tiered chandeliers. Tall pendant lights are available in the market that look great in large foyers. Pendant lighting fixtures are best for foyers with lower ceilings as they won’t overpower the room like the chandeliers.

Both the options differ in light direction as traditional chandeliers have bulbs like flame lights directing the light upwards whereas the pendant lights mostly have the direct light pointing downwards. When thinking from a lighting point of view, if you are looking to create atmospheric lighting then chandeliers are your best bet, while pendants will be a better choice when doing direct lighting.
